![]() On the days when we’d adventured a little too hard, we just hopped in bed and dozed off while watching TV. There’s also a wall-mounted TV in both of the double bedrooms. There’s also a huge smart TV, which isn’t always a prominent feature to look for, but it’s nice to binge-watch TV series in the evenings. The lavish velvet effect matching orange sofas (not usually an obvious sofa choice, but it actually felt very uplifting) call out to you. It just makes cooking dinner with the kids much more manageable. You walk into Holly Lodge, and you’re greeted by a convenient open-plan kitchen and living room. This enabled us to strike a balance between making sure the kids had fun but were also able to treat ourselves. After a busy day exploring the local area and chasing the girls around farms and parks, it was so nice knowing we could recover in a warm hot tub with a glass of vino in hand. It enabled us adults to indulge in spa therapy once the kids had gone to bed. Having a hot tub is certainly a huge bonus. Mummy did well choosing this place! Holly Lodge just feels special. I could see he was smiling like a Cheshire cat when we got there. I’ve also never stayed anywhere with children, that has really wowed my husband. I’ve stayed in places that say they are child-friendly, yet somehow there are tons of hazards. I could see instantly that the kids could have free rein, and I didn’t need to follow them around everywhere, stopping them from hurting themselves. As soon as I set foot inside, I felt a wave of relief. I’ve gone from looking for luxury features to hoping there aren’t too many things for the kids to bash into. With an abundance of wildlife, birdlife and water fowl present together with hunting, its about as close to living with nature you can experience.įor those looking for an amazingly peaceful private and tranquil place to live either full time or perhaps for relaxing or recreational opportunities, this property does offer something particularly special which seldom becomes available.As a parent, I’ve discovered that finding suitable holiday accommodation is tough. The local primary school is just a few minutes drive away. Other buildings and improvements the property offers is a detached sleepout, a three stand woolshed with sheep and cattle yards plus several implement / storage sheds along with a milking facility if calf rearing was an option.Ĭurrently income is generated from the ETS scheme, bees and leasing out the grazing land. The grazing areas presently leased and carrying sheep and beef. There is currently 40 ha of manuka registered in the ETS scheme with potential for further extension and income. Once there greeting you are panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and out to Taranaki’s iconic mountain and ranges. Rising from the valley floor is a backdrop of magnificent native bush through which a well formed track meanders up to a large more elevated area of grazing land. Nestled in the sheltered Makahu valley approximately 40 minutes drive east of Stratford is this very attractive and picturesque property, more aptly described as a farm park.Īs you leave the dwelling and proceed up the main valley through grazing paddocks interspersed with stands of Kahikatea trees you also pass two large riparian planted lakes, one with a jetty to launch your canoe from.
